Fishing report by L.T. Miller Anglers catching whitefish, steelhead
Due to the cold weather bringing skim ice over many area inland lakes, there will not be any inland reports until the ice is thick enough to safely fish.
Ross Wellman of Wellman’s Party and Bait said whitefish and steelhead are biting good at the mouth of the AuSable River. Whitefish have been biting best at the end of the pier heads using orange tear drops tipped with a waxworm. Steelhead fishing has been good, casting spoons as well as drifting spawn.
Karen of The Dam Store said whitefish are up at Foote Dam, but seem to be kind of finicky and biting best on waxworms. Steelhead are biting good in the holes of the river, drifting spawn.
Dave of Hawg’s Bait and Tackle said whitefish have been biting fair at the Tawas State Dock, but seem to be slowing down. The best fishing has been at the first two elbows of the dock, using waxworms under a slip bobber.
